....because i've had 'write about X number of things' on my list of stuff to do for well, over a month, and now that number of things is somewhat overwhelming. Also after waiting forever to post about things I will undoubtedly forget details that will return to me only after i've finished, but whatever, gotta start somewhere.
so uh, i guess i'll just list all of the things that have been taking up my brainspace recently?
SO. I am a great big dork and have been going to a monthly offline Soulcalibur V tournament since...about March? I've dipped my toe into the competitive gaming waters a few times before--from 2002-2004ish I was all about DDR, and in the first year of DOA4's release I attended a few New England/NYC area tournaments--but due to having significantly less free time and disposable income after graduating I stopped attending offline gaming events almost completely.
But anyway, when SCV came out there was a small-but-dedicated core of offline players about an hour away from me, and they hold both weekly casuals and monthly tournaments, so i've been re-entering the competitive scene slooooooowly.
It's been fun, and not as anxiety-triggering as I feared it might be. (Two years of therapy and I am finally reaping the benefits!) I am still pretty awful at all things fighting games, considering how much time I put into it, but there is some progress. The last time I went it actually translated into wins! But yeah. I spend most of my time getting beat down by far more experienced players. :P Everyone I've met has been pretty nice, though, and willing to run a few sets or give advice afterwards. I'm also not sure how far I want to go, or how long I want to keep doing this--but for now I'm content to attend the monthly tournament when I have the time, and to keep improving bit by bit.
This also means I now know people who are competing in EVO--there's a small group from New England going and it's kind of exciting to have players you know personally to root for! Obviously I'd like for everyone who's going to make it out of their pools, but I'd be happy for the top 3 regional players to take some names. (Although even this may be too optimistic--pool play is always brutal.)

...and by 'Avengers' I mostly mean Thor/Chris Hemsworth because he's kind of amazingly beautiful and the countless tumblr gifs/photosets/general squee have...have kind of ruined my life??? Yeah. :x
It's been a long time since I've followed such a big fandom. Good things: having far too many fanworks to wade through, active kinkmemes, and just...lots of fun everywhere~ Bad things: Loki/Tom Hiddleston's more, erm, enthusiastic fans. I mean, I admit to really liking Loki, and also Tom Hiddleston, and Thor/Loki (i guess i might as well accept that I have an incest kink when it comes to fandom ships :S ) but wow, the level of cray-cray displayed by an alarming number of people dampens my fondness considerably.
Have been trying to find some active Avengers/Thor movie communities on DW but haven't had much luck finding anything. I'd really like an icon community and a general discussion one but the only active comm. seems to be a mirror of an LJ fic community? OH WELL. Maybe something will pop up in the near future. Or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. IDK.
I have been writing Avenger fic, but so far it's all been for kinkmeme prompts and I'm not sure I want to de-anon because it's kind of....questionable. i don't know if i want my interwebs name attached to it. XD

Currently I'm only following 4 books, because $20(ish) per month is all i'm willing to spend on comics related geekery. (Video games eat up most of my nerdmoney.) Those books are Action Comics, Batman, Daredevil, and Batwing. I enjoy Action Comics and Daredevil consistently; on the other hand, I think I'm gonna have to cut out all Bat-related things completely. Batman is fine, but the whole Court of Owls thing is becoming this thing i just don't care to follow anymore, and Batwing has hints of a compelling story buried beneath pages of unnecessary Batfamily cameos and uninspired action sequences. I've never been particularly enthusiastic about Judd Winnick, and his writing is just too, well, workmanlike for a title like this. At least the artwork is super pretty, with Marcus To replacing Ben Oliver. (who did an amazing job too, IMO)
So I've been thinking about replacements. I'm leaning pretty heavily towards World's Finest because Huntress & Power Girl are my favorite superhero duo and the writing and art are above average, but oh wow, Peej's re-design is eye-searing even when it's drawn well. And yes, this bothers me enough that I might not pick up a book that features my favorite characters. JIM LEE: TRULY A COMICS VISIONARY. :[
I don't know what else to get. I like what I've seen of Journey Into Mystery with bb!Loki but I've always been a bit wary of starting Marvel books; I always get lost pretty quick. Daredevil has been relatively self-contained, which is one reason that I like it. IDK how well JiM is as a stand-alone title. Captain America and Thor are my favorite Marvel characters after Daredevil, but I don't really know where to start with them IRT the monthlies currently available.
...maybe this is a sign to save money and only buy 3 books a month instead.

Here it is. Apropos of nothing, this is the first year i have not had the plushy/furry kink as a square.

Kinda sad that I didn't get tentacles or guro, but that's what the free space is for. :P Also, medical kink and drugs/aphrodisiacs? hell yeah.
...I have no idea what I'm going to do for actual fills, though. GO ME. :Db
