so, this is all i understand of Blazblue so far:

1. EVERYBODY IS GAY

if the Teach Me Miss Litchi episodes don't end in a superhot lesbian orgy I WILL FEEL CHEATED i mean i am only on episode 2 and ffffff i am still kind of amazed Makoto didn't end up making out with either Noel or Taokaka in her extreme(ly physical) appreciation of their ~cuteness~

Hazama is all HINTHINTWINKWINK to anyone mildly attractive

i suppose Bang is straight but he is also one of the sluttiest-dressed ninjas ever WHICH IS QUITE A FEAT and that should count for....something.

2. ARAKUNE IS ADORABLE

and tragic. but mostly adorable! also: BEES

3. I SHOULD PROBABLY HATE THIS GAME

because dear god, it's like every single annoying animu trope in existence was put into a blender and the product was THIS GAME. there's tsundere vampire lolis and prettyboi incest(!!!) and ASS EVERYWHERE (srsly there is bare ass RIGHT ON THE GAME DISC WHAT) and a stupidly complex world history/storyline gushing with melodrama and redonkulous dialog and

and and and

I AM EATING IT UP

especially the prettyboi incest for which i am duly ashamed (why self why)

4. I WILL NEVER FIGURE OUT HOW TO PLAY THIS, NOR WTF IS GOING ON IN THE STORY

that video is SUPERBLY CUTE ♥ and like, making parody vids & art of it is a total meme in Japan, there are TONS of smooooch・∀・ vids on nico nico douga. i think some of those are on youtube as well, i know there's a dissidia one and ones for a bunch of anime shows i don't watch X)

eeeeee i will probably be doing normal campaign for awhile b/c fight-pal is totally new to the series.

the Dead Center finale really shouldn't be the first one newcomers encounter, i've decided. not intuitive like the regular finales, plus it and the Passing are the only campaigns that use that setup so it probably gives strange expectations.

Point number three is basically my feelings on the game exactly, only instead there's added rage about how GUILTY GEAR WAS SO MUCH BETTER and HAD CHARACTERS WITH ACTUAL PERSONALITIES and WASN'T COATED IN SO MUCH MASS APPEAL IT'S DISGUSTING. And yet, even after I swear it off, I keep coming back to Blazblue every damn time.

Also yes I adore Arakune. And Jin. And Hazama is basically objectively the best character in the game. ALSO I THINK CARL IS REALLY ADORABLE and I ship him with Litchi I JUST WANTED TO SAY.

i swear, every time i find out something new about the story i feel like screaming "Hey this is just like Guilty Gear, only CONVOLUTED AND DUMB." not to say that Guilty Gear wasn't ridiculous in its own right, or that it never got fanservicey, but with Blazblue everything feels shallow, even when they're trying to be serious.

and ngl, if Hazama didn't keep coming in at JUST THE RIGHT TIME to troll everybody's story, i would've punched my tv screen by now. dude makes blatant exposition bearable, that is pretty slick.

Arakune's story is so sad i could just hug him, hideous bugs and all. Carl IS adorable and his sister is hot whut

THAT IS PRETTY MUCH A PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF EVERYTHING IN BLAZBLUE TBH. Blazblue is pretty much just Guilty Gear if you took Guilty Gear and coated it in as much mainstream appeal as humanly possibly, so the whole thing feels kind of shallow and exploitative. And Guilty Gear was ridiculous in the way that every fighting game is ridiculous. It's basically a genre requirement.

Trufax: the only reason I'm buying the second game is Hazama. I made the mistake(?) of watching everyone's arcade story one YouTube, and Hazama trolling fucking everyone was just so beautiful I immediately forgot all of my problems with the first game and went "I WAAAAAAAANT *A*"

Oh god I know ;A; Arakune is one of the few things in Blazblue I Like Without Qualifications. Carl is my favorite though because I have a weakness for moe moe shota boys I guess??

IN ADDITION to vampire lolis and gay incest there is a smoking hot Chinese doctor and a catgirl whose whole existence seems to revolve around groping boobies and this smartly-dressed troll.

it's like $40 brand-new. it's a sequel to Blazblue: Calamity Trigger but i have not played that one before.
