Title: Omen
Fandom: Resident Evil
Characters: Sheva Alomar
Rating: PG-13 (violence)
Summary: Sheva Alomar makes a disturbing discovery.

---

The first thing that set Sheva on edge was the coroner's eyes: too wide, too bright for a man who spent his days cataloging the gruesome murders that happened daily in Kijuju.

Once she saw the body, she had to bite her lip to keep from gasping aloud.

The body was covered in spiraling bruises, as if it had been wrapped tight in rope and then crushed. Something thick and black and viscous oozed from the edges of the mouth and nostrils, and from behind the eyes-

She called the BSAA from the morgue.

"Biohazard confirmed.”

That was the beginning.

Title: She Trusts
Fandom: Resident Evil
Characters: Jill Valentine, Sheva Alomar (slightly Jill/Sheva)
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Spoilers for RE5's Chapter 5-3
Summary: Sheva and Jill's first meeting.

---

Sheva's body was warm and inviting, her damp, parted lips and heaving chest a mimicry of a waiting lover.

Jill reached out, curled her hands firmly around Sheva's waist, and threw her against the wall. There was a sickening crack; Jill would have screamed if she'd had the voice for it.

Sheva raised her hands in a defensive position, but kept her gun holstered and knife sheathed. Jill wanted to scream: I'm sorry, I can't stop-

Instead Jill reached out and grasped Sheva's throat.

"I'll kill you," she hissed.

"No," Sheva said, and her eyes were calm, trusting. "You won't."

Title: Reflection
Fandom: Ghost in the Shell
Characters: Motoko Kusinagi
Rating: G
Summary: On a late night walk, Motoko wonders what she is.

---

Motoko's late night walks took her past high-class boutiques, where display windows peopled with exquisitely dressed, blank-eyed mannequins met her gaze. On some nights, when she was particularly aware of her synthetic flesh, she would stop and look into those vivid eyes that held no spark of life.

Her own eyes - reflections swimming in a sea of neon - were no different, for all the complex machinery powering them. The existence of her Ghost was unrecognizable, the only shine in her eyes that of reflected light.

She shivered, though her artificial body felt no chill, and continued walking the silent streets.

Title: Hail of Steel
Fandom: Resonance of Fate
Characters: Vashyron, Zephyr
Rating: PG
Summary: Vashyron asks Zephyr about the Seminary incident.

---

"Why did you do it?"

Quiet. Not accusing, not sad, not even curious. More than anything, Vashyron sounded bored, the question another part of the procedure.

Like pulling a trigger.

Outside, rain still pounded Basel's steel streets. The last sermon he'd heard-

...storms are but creations of Zenith's anger. But through our work here, your hands - shaped by unwavering faith - will stay the wrath of God...

Zephyr swallowed. The taste of congealed blood was thick in his throat; the crack of the gunshot still ricocheted in his head.

"I wanted to show them," he whispered, "what a real storm was."

Title: One Step Forward
Original Fiction
Rating: G
Summary: A girl takes the first step into discovery.

---

I didn't tell my parents where I was going. It wasn't necessary. They'd just say it's a bad idea, and I had made up my mind: I was going down. Explaining why would only confuse them and frustrate me.

There was nobody at the sinkhole, and the temporary guardrails had collapsed. I walked to the edge of the hole. The bright summer sunlight beamed into the chasm, only to be swallowed by its darkness. I couldn't see the bottom, or guess how far it reached - not that it mattered.

I stepped forward and fell off the face of the earth.
