trying a new year's resolution of sorts - write at least 100 words of something each day. i have no idea of how long i'll keep this schedule - if past experience is any indication, NOT VERY LONG, LOL - but i'm kinda hoping getting a little out daily will lead to less-sporadic writing bursts.
someday i might even write actual fic again. X)
Title: world is empty
Fandom: Left 4 Dead 2
Pairing: implied Nick/Ellis
Rating: G
Words: 100
Summary: Post-game: some people never change. Ellis finds out that Nick's one of them.
Notes: SAD and ANGSTY. Written for the theme "Death of Romance" which should tell you all you need to know, really.
---
Ellis wakes up to an empty bed.
It doesn't bother him at first. Nick's a light sleeper; the cramped quarters of the cruise ship quarantine make his restlessness worse. Ellis knows Nick well enough to accept his need for solitude.
But when he hears about the escape attempt, he starts to worry.
And when the military questions him about his "relationship to the escaped evacuee," Ellis realizes the emptiness in his room might be permanent.
Once they finish, Ellis returns to his room, sitting on the bed that still holds the shape of Nick's body.
It's all Nick leaves him.
