1. this is hinted at in canon, i think - i'm pretty sure Siegfried's birth was an accident. Frederick had no intention of marrying Margaret, and she never expected him to return. The only reason he reconsidered was because he found out she'd given birth to a boy.
2. Siegfried didn't have an especially difficult childhood, but i think he was teased relentlessly when he was young - partially due to the circumstances around his birth, partially because he was on the small, slightly pretty side growing up. this more than anything is what spurred him to join up with the Schwartzwind, in order to prove he was the biggest badass of them all. XD
3. In SCL/SCI, has the worst sort of crush on Ivy - and one of the ways Soul Edge keeps his soul in thrall is by convincing Siegfried she'll actually notice him if he can pull off Soul Edge's revival. (drama ahoy!)
b. sometimes (but only sometimes!) his whole redemption storyline can cross the line from compelling drama to um, Linkin-Park-lyric levels of comic, emo angst.
but most of the time i think his misery is reasonable.
c. he is a seething cauldron of all kinds of crazy mental issues. X3
d - e. (these two questions always give me a problem...)
never happened:
-has never dealt with how he felt about his father *before* he killed him - I think Siegfried was more than a little resentful towards Frederick for not being home more often, but after murdering him, he's conveniently forgotten that.
-I don't think he'll ever be able to forgive himself for what he's done. He may be able to see that his life has value and worth to others in the future, but there's this...quality about Siegfried that makes me think he won't accept forgiveness about the past.
-never raped anyone as Nightmare: his violent rampage was strictly T-rated. :p
never loved:
-Siegfried/either of the Alexandra sisters doesn't do much for me. I kind of think Cassandra and Siegfried could become really close friends - their personalities seem to mesh well for that kind of relationship - but as far as love is concerned, neither Sophitia nor Cassandra seem quite right.
for what it's worth, I think Siegfried wants (and needs) someone with a really forceful, dominating kind of personality - someone who can give him direction.
-um....
PROBABLY NOT LIZARDMAN LOL.

Date: 2009-08-19 06:04 pm (UTC)From:Loves this! Omg yes, this should be cannon because it rings so true. I bet he managed to get all the girls though.:p Let's be honest, he's the 16th century answer to Legolas...he's still the prettiest!
I also agree with you about never raping anyone as Nightmare, I don't think Soul Edge as any interest or inclination, except, perhaps, for when it comes to making prodigal daughters. But even that didn't work very well...
I do wonder if poor Siegfried will ever actually be able to fall in love though. I believe you're right in this and think perhaps a sense of duty and affection maybe all he'll be capable of feeling towards a lover in the future. :(
...Sorry it's taken so long to respond to this, I'm living in a building site at the moment, it makes interwebbing a bit of a pain.

Date: 2009-08-20 04:32 am (UTC)From:...i can't remember if Ivy's conception was something orchestrated by Soul Edge completely, or just a random event that Soul Edge realized it could capitalize on later. i tend to think the latter, but i don't know if that's ever been addressed in canon. :o
hmm...as for love - i don't know? i could see him making a really honest effort to love someone if he was aware they cared for him, but...Siegfried's concept of redemption, especially in III/IV, has such a suicidal undertone to it that, if he were to survive, i'm not sure he'd know what to do with himself. :| kinda hard to see someone in that position being able to fall in love.
np about the reply...i'm always surprised when people actually comment here. XD

Date: 2009-08-20 04:48 pm (UTC)From:I also lean towards Ivy's conception being a random event that Soul Edge capitalized on, later. However, I also think that Cervantes had more control of Soul Edge as host than Siegfried could have dreamed of; probably due to his nature and experience. It makes me think that, him being a pirate and the scourge of seven seas, if Cervantes raped one woman, he probably raped more. Which then brings up the question as just how many 'Seeds of Soul Edge' could conceivably be running around...
Apropos that, it then makes me think of what Siegfried might pass onto his offspring if he were to father any post Soul Calibur IV... Emma Frost then springs to mind. XD
