So today, I was possessed by a sudden desire to draw stuff for Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I'm not sure what triggered the drawing part, but Madoka Magica has been nibbling away at my brain since I finished the series and it stole ALL of my tears. ;o;
Given that NaBloPoMo has such a strong emphasis on improving one's writing, I feel a little strange making two visual-heavy posts - like I've missed the point, a little? I haven't seen an active, dedicated art blog on LJ-ish type blogging platforms for awhile - they seem to have migrated to tumblr.
I suppose it doesn't matter too much? IDK why it is bothering me.
Anyway, have a colored pencil sketchy Sayaka Miki.

there are a lot of costume detail and coloring mistakes :c but...maybe it doesn't look like it is the first thing I've drawn in months?
i have a terrible time using colored pencils for fair-skinned characters. i have no idea how to color skin so that it looks like skin, not just white paper. anyone have suggestions as to what I should do? :o
TOMORROW: ...I have no idea! I GUESS THAT MAKES IT A SURPRISE. EXCITING!!!

Date: 2011-11-09 07:43 pm (UTC)From:I'm assuming you don't really have a colored pencil light enough to just fill in the skin areas...in that case I would actually leave the skin white in that case and create shadows instead using a color just a shade darker. I'm actually really used to seeing anime drawings with minimal color so that's all I can think of at the moment.
