i don't know what to do with myself

I had clinicals this morning, but got sent home early because SHIT THERE'S A HURRICANE. the wind has just started to get serious and all the news outlets are telling people to get off the roads by 3pm. house is battened down and ready for the storm.

i have no idea what to do between now and...whenever it becomes safe to leave the house again. there are scheduled power outages for later this evening (so that power grids don't get overloaded or something?) and pretty much everything in the state will be shut down tuesday. guess i should get my handhelds charged and bust out the candles for the moments i'll be powerless. Here's to hoping it won't be as long as it was during last year's October Snowpocalypse.

The damage was pretty bad in NYC, we have flooded stations so it looks like it would take a while for things to get back to normal. Hopefully things are better for you since you're relatively far from water?

Meanwhile you should play games and avoid people that drive you crazy, haha.

The storm ended up not being TOO bad here. The most damage has been from fallen trees/tree branches, and luckily nothing big fell near the house. My aunt had a seriously close call, though. Giant tree trunk fell on the patio, less than foot from the house. :S

I've heard that things in NYC were bad! I hope you and your family are okay and that things get back to normal ASAP. <3

Yeah, I've been waiting to see how long things get back to normal. I'm glad to hear you're all right though.

There's a lot of flooding in the stations and they've only restored 3 lines of the subway system...unfortunately it's not the one I use to go to school with -.-

The only good news is that I wasn't in the area that suffered the power outages but traveling from here is going to be a nightmare.
