[embarrassing fangirling ahead]
omg NEW BLAZBLUE GAAAAAAAME!
obviously there is not a whole lot of information yet, just a trailer and some artwork/screenshots and a just-started location test, but fear not for this has not stopped me from forming strong opinions already, which I will proceed to share with you all with a hearty helping of capslock!
NOEL: what the hell are you wearing? TUMBLR: how can you like this? Man, that long-as-a-censor-bar pleated skirt is the definition of fug, and the top just idk whatever. And I know BB designs are all about the unnecessary flow-y cape-like accessories that defy the laws of physics, but that caplet thing + ribbon attachments just looks bulky and dumb.
But I do like her hair down. Also BOLVERK SHOTGUN WOOOOOOOOOO \o/
NEW CHARACTERS: Bullet and Azrael: whatever. Mediocre designs, boring sounding drives. Well, ok, with Bullet I don't even know what her Drive is supposed to do and Azrael's sounds like it will be a nightmare to defend against but not particularly interesting to use.boo Amane: MAN-GODDESS LET ME LOVE YOU~
DESIGNS IN GENERAL: okay BB i know gratuitous fanservice is like a ~thing you do and all, but wow some of the character art (Bullet, Litchi, Makoto)....look like something you might find on a ecchi manga cover or eroge game. Not like, a super filthy one, but my first thought was softcore porn. I want to recommend you to other people, BlazBlue, I really do, but stuff like this makes it kind of hard, you know? :|
SYSTEM CHANGES: I can't really say much about them because a) i'm a scrub at this game and i don't understand anything b) i forgot to bookmark the list of changes already documented and i can't remember them too well, WHOOPS. but i won't let such a severe lack of basic knowledge stop me!
Overdrive sounds like a pretty cool comeback mechanic. i like that the timer temporarily stops (apparently?) while its active because playing keep-away when a comeback feature's been activated is way annoying. also doesn't sound like it's anywhere near as dumb as X-Factor in MvC3, but then again, it would be really hard to be dumber than X-Factor.
I UNABASHEDLY LOVE ALL THE CHANGES TO BURST. Fuck Guard Primer management.
i am completely neutral on the apparent removal of wallsplats.
STORY STUFF: well, I hope someone translates the dialog of the PV soon, it would be nice to know what all the characters are screaming about.
Aaaaand I'm going to be spending some free time capping those stills that flashed by at the end of the vid, I think...
PS who's on Team Fuck the NOL and who's not, at this point?
PPS i wonder what's up with the murakumo units.
PPPS i really hope Amane does turn out to be Tenjou's son.

I am sad about the wallsplats but that is because they were integral to the brief period where Bang was god tier. So.
I feel like BlazBlue has gotten more fanservicey over time, IDK. I hate Noel's new outfit. I don't actually mind fanservice when it's decently designed (I don't mind Litchi or anybody in Guilty Gear) but WOW I hate the designs for Makoto and Bullet and new Noel. So much.
I just want Bang to have a larger role in this new game, *sob* I have so many feelings about a joke character.

Date: 2012-08-10 05:20 am (UTC)From:I'm not sure if wallsplats are completely removed--I just skimmed over most of the gameplay discussions, and I couldn't tell for sure if wallsplats had been removed, altered or simply more difficult to achieve. I'd be surprised if they were completely out, but I imagine they're tinkering with wallsplats so that the competitive game moves out of the corner a little bit. :p
I can put up with most of BB's fanservice because they obviously don't mind poking fun at themselves, and it's relatively well-distributed between fanservice aimed at guys and fanservice aimed at girls, but man, the Chrono Phantasma character art. Most of the new outfits are just a clumsy mashup of popular
fetishdesign elements from every single mediocre, unmemorable anime in the past 5 years. Also BULLET DOES YOUR BODY EVEN HAVE ROOM FOR ORGANS NO IT DOES NOT.Litchi's design I have no problem with, but the way she's posed in her new artwork is...ugh.

Also ahahaha oh man, are other people speculating about Amane being Tenjou's son? I thought about that after I saw the trailer and was like I SURE HOPE THAT TURNS OUT TO BE A THING!!!
And yeah the lack of Murakumos is weird, so maybe there is some kind of story-relevant ~REVEAL~ regarding them, who knows at this point.
