The sight of Yukianesa sinking into Bang's abdomen struck Jin as strangely obscene, the thin blade almost swallowed whole by solid muscle. Jin gripped Yukianesa's hilt tightly and resisted the urge to twist, to tear that barely-yielding flesh apart. He only meant to injure, not to kill.

"Think of this as a lesson," Jin said. "We may not be enemies, but that doesn't make us allies."

"That is true," Bang gasped. As Jin watched, his lips curved into an unfathomable smile. "But that is not all I have learned from this."

Bang wrapped one massive hand around Yukianesa. "The Jin Kisaragi I met in Ikaruga would not have been this precise, or this merciful." With a loud groan, Bang ripped Yukianesa free, throwing both the sword and Jin to the ground. "You are...far more dangerous now than before."

Jin twisted to his feet, eager for the fight in a way that he hadn't been only moments before. He couldn't remember the last time he had wanted to fight without destruction, to pit his body and mind against another with nothing more than the thrill of the battle as reward. Was this sweet ache the victory that Bang had spoken of in Ronin-Gai? The simple purity of his emotion was not unappealing.

"Well, then," Jin said, raising his bloodstained sword, "let's see what else you can learn."
