day 20: a song that you listen to when you're angry: 99 Anthems, DJ Minty Fresh Beats
i'm not really the sort of person who listens to music when i'm angry, but if i did i guess i'd listen to angry rap songs?
i like this because it takes rap lyrics and puts them over significantly better beats (here, 99 Problems over Radiohead's National Anthem) it makes the confrontation with the police sound a lot more dangerous. which is good, because all anyone seems to remember about 99 Problems is the chorus.

day 21: a song that you listen to when you're happy: Over the Rainbow, melody.
this is the most joyous, bubblegummy pop song in the world. no, seriously, it's the aural equivalent of the sky raining gumdrops and lolipops with rainbows and unicorns ALL OVER the place. :3
day 22: a song that you listen to when you're sad: Roses, Kanye West
i am the sort of person who tends to wallow in my sense of misery by listening or watching to things that make me feel even sadder. it's not exactly the greatest coping mechanism but i find i do feel a lot better after having a good hard cry.
AND. i'm not gonna lie, i love Kanye West. unironically even - i think he's a very talented producer if a mediocre rapper, i love his strange and explosive tirades through his blog, but mostly i love that as a performer he has no idea how to hold his emotions in. he's maybe the only musician who i can point to that spills EVERYTHING about himself into what he makes - that's both a good and bad thing, since his ~personal issues~ as well as his virtues are clearly on display, but from a viewer's standpoint it's always fascinating.
Roses (along with Street Lights and Bad News from 808s & Heartbreak) is my favorite Kanye track. the sampling is pitch-perfect (Bill Withers! Yay!) and the lyrics are astoundingly raw and heartbreaking, especially when you consider they're coming from the same guy who made Golddigger. (which, for the record, i love too. :p )
