does anyone actually listen to these things? like, i know only end up listening to maybe half of the music posted on my flist. it's not an intentional thing, it's just that i'm a loser who likes to stay within my musical comfort zone for the most of the time so if something sounds like it will be really different, i skip it. i do have a bookmarks folder full of stuff i mean to give a whirl when i am in one of my musically adventurous moods, but the number of songs and artists in that folder is far greater than my capacity to listen to them all.

does anyone else have the same problem, especially when the music being pushed is from a genre you don't listen to often, or don't particularly like? as much as i like to think i am a ~generous and open~ listener, i'm a lot more likely to click on something that's cutesy or dance bubblegum pop, old-style soul and jazz, or r & b, while avoiding just about everything with the word 'rock' in it - even if it's been given a glowing and detailed review by someone's whose taste i trust. tolerance? i spit on your (musical) tolerance.

whatevs, here's a post that has some awful music in it and some fantastic music in it.

day 17: a song that you hear often on the radio: Tik-Tok, Ke$ha

Jesus, this song is fuckin terrible. i don't listen to commercial FM stations that often, but whenever i do, i swear, there's like a 65% chance that it will be playing this aural train wreck.

day 18: a song that you wish you heard on the radio: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound

this is a cover of a Wilco song, and it's the kind of cover i like best: a sharply done but wildly different interpretation of a very good song. The Wilco original is a softer, slower and altogether sadder song - the JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound version is a rollicking soul number that could have played on the radio during the height of the 70s Motown craze.

day 19: a song from your favorite album: Billie Jean, Michael Jackson

man, what else needs to be said? the Thriller album is the purest form of pop gold. okay, The Girl Is Mine is pretty awkward but 99% of that is because of Paul McCartney.

and Billie Jean > Thriller, if we are talking music. Thriller just has the best video.

I listen to some music posted unless I absolutely distrust that person's music taste. :o Most of the time I totally forget, though. XD

The Thriller album is so awesome, man. XD I love it so much, idec. Billie Jean is totally better than Thriller :Db I was kind of butthurt when the Jabbawockeez didn't get it for their MJ challenge. :(

I'm probably gonna have to do that, too. XD I have the worst memory ever.

Same here! XD The stupid cassette got all tired and messed out and terrible-sounding. My friend finally just got the CD years after and I swear we spent most of that summer just listening to that album again.

That's probably my favorite MJ song ever, too. :D

OMG YES! I loved that show so much and I actually voted for the Jabbawockeez because I loved them so much! ♥
