absinthe lollipops!!!

speaking of new ways to experience old drinks: a nearby bar just added liquid nitrogen martinis to their cocktails list. will be heading out there this weekend; i've never tried one before so things should be interesting.

i'm not a lush, i swear.

and you know what, when I ready 'absinthe lollipops' I instantly though of ice-lollies, and I was like, wow, how cool would that be? XD Then hubby brought be down to earth by telling me the liquor wouldn't freeze...;_;

Ah well... umm, is liquid nitrogen safe to drink? (Has visions of Terminator 2)

hee, i suppose i could have worded it better - the liquid nitrogen is used to cool/freeze the drink instead of ice. the nitrogen turns back into gas by the time it's served so you don't actually drink any.

there's a demo on how some bars use liquid nitrogen here. the bar i'm going to does something different - they pour a little nitrogen directly into the martini, and when it's vaporized there's a little iceberg left in the middle of the martini - but the idea is somewhat similar.
