Title: Restart
Fandom: Dead Rising 2
Characters: Chuck Greene
Rating: PG-13 (mentioned goriness)
Words: 200
Warnings: Spoilers for Ending E
Summary: In which Chuck finds that not everything is permanent.
---
“Chuck!”
He can barely hear Stacey's voice over the sound of moaning zombies, can't meet her eyes through the web of rotting hands and arms above him.
“You can't,” Stacey's voice catches; she's crying, or close to it, “You can't let it end like this, Chuck.”
His eyes close. Katey's gone, and he can't, won't, give himself what he couldn't give her.
The sensation of his flesh tearing from his bones feels like release.
---
When he opens his eyes he's in a...
A garage?
There's a bike in front of him, ready to ride; all he needs to do is tighten-
Somebody thrusts a wrench before him. He looks at the small hands holding it, and his heart stops.
“Katey?”
She tilts her head, questioning. His voice fails him; all he can do is mouth How? like a fish gasping for air. Katey giggles.
Chuck's hands shake as he takes the wrench. He's not sure if it's from joy or fear.
“Two minutes until you're on, Mr. Greene.” He starts at the sound of the assistant's voice, from the familiarity of it.
Something's wrong here, but he can't tell if it's himself or the world.
