I've decided to repost some of my fandom rambling from twitter on here. Partly as a record and partly because even short threads quickly become unreadable there (imo) so while the short format requirements (with likes serving as passive feedback/incentive to continue) it's easier to expand and refine things else where, like DW, which has an edit feature. :p
in short: twitter is for the first draft and DW is a combination archive/editing platform, depending on how much--if any--time i want to put into any given thought. anyway,
1) me deciding to use this extra hour to look up number superstitions to see if there's any unspoken symbolism in the way the Council of Six is structured, b/c i'm a cool person who overthinks things like this c:
2) Zeno being the 4th member of the Council and also one of two characters who die in the old timeline the Guardian & Xiao fix feels intentional (maybe Zeno can hold the position safely because he's already died in a sense lol )
3) The Council of Six being an inherently poor structure for a ruling body (decision deadlocks are inevitable) & 6 being unlucky due to its similarity to "nothing" is also...interesting. Quna, the "0th" member who brings the council to 7 (a "good" number) is even more interesting :)
4) i remember when i first played and thought "an even-numbered council sounds terrible" and then when Casra reveals how the two halves intentionally have opposing directives...it's just "wow the council is literally designed to deadlock or even destroy itself, huh?"
5) to have a fundamentally dysfunctional council be represented by a number associated with "nothingness" is....really funny and clever imo. ofc it may not have been intentional, but it feels too deliberate to just be a coincidence.
