"You knew this would happen--no, you assured this would happen." Raphael said. The air around him was heavy with malicious energy; Azwel's hands trembled at the thought of what that power could do.
"You give me too much credit, friend," Azwel said. "Your fate was sealed the moment you sought Soul Edge; I merely altered the nature of its infection--and what you've become far exceeds anything I've seen! You may well be the seed that revitalizes our stagnant race..."
"I see," Raphael said. "Since you've given me so much…assistance, I must repay you." Raphael smiled, moonlight catching on something sharp between his lips--then Raphael was gone, leaving Azwel staring at shadows.
Then Azwel crashed to the ground, the full weight of Raphael's body on top of him, Raphael’s hands around his throat. Azwel gasped for air, staring into eyes as red as blood.
"What would be a fitting role for you in my new world, Scholar? A pet, I think, is too good a life for you. No...you deserve a life of undying servitude." Raphael smiled again, and this time Azwel saw the fangs clearly.
For the first time in years, Azwel remembered what it was to fear.
