According to PSNH, New Hampshire's ~*~highly efficient~*~ legal monopoly electricity provider, most of the state should have power restored by November 4th. That would mean some areas would be without power for basically a week and puts the recovery efforts at about the same record of quality as the ice storm of 2010. In case you didn't know, those were some pretty slow and shitty records.
I suppose I ought to be more charitable given that the Halloween Snowpocalypse deprived like 75% of the southern part of the state without power, but I'm kind of annoyed and not in the mood. I mean, even with Crazy Fucking Ice Storm most of the major businesses and streets had power within two days. There are still huge parts of the city that are dark as of tonight.
My brother and I are still on generator power, so our personal situation is merely irritating and not a freezing mess. Cooking is the worst part - we don't have enough power to run the microwave safely, let alone the stove and oven, so if we want hot food and don't want to brave the hordes at the few open restaurants we have to make stuff using the grill, out in like 40 degree weather. And snow. And also, the grill is way slow at cooking anything and some things are just too annoying to try making, like anything requiring boiling water. I have not had any tea for days, wahh.
Also, my brother has become obsessed with carbon monoxide poisoning. And everything smells like diesel, and the generator sound is becoming a painful drill that haunts my dreams. arrrggghhh
In other news, Halloween has been postponed, and frankly I am STOKED. Some parents are being super-complain-y face about it, saying Halloween should happen on Halloween how can the government be so lamesauce, but COME ON. You went trick-or-treating with little children in total darkness during a windy 20 degree night, on streets rife with fallen tree branches and downed power lines, and you insist that you're the sane one? psssssshhhhhh whatevs, soccer mommies.
I'M going to take this extra time to make Momo a Brumak costume. She's going to be the cutest war machine EVER! ♥
