I have been watching Blazblue: Alter Memory, and by 'watching' I mean skipping to specific points in a few episodes to find out the origin of various screen caps on tumblr. So far, this is my favorite moment:



followed closely by a scene in episode 10 where Terumi is torturing Makoto in what's supposed to be a gut-wrenching sequence, but because Terumi and Makoto look distinctly blobby the emotional impact is somewhat lessened.

Ok enough laughing at Alter Memory's unfortunate animation, POKEMON IS ON NETFLIX EEEeEeeeeeeEEEEEEee! Although, only the first season (Indigo League) and Best Wishes are available, which is kind of sad because I wanted to see the Diamond/Pearl eps without having to resort to semi-shady online streams, but OH WELL. Anyway, some things I have noticed:

★ Ash is outrageously dumb and I find him awfully endearing for it. I have a real softness for characters who are not exceptional in any way aside from having a big, emphatic heart, and Ash is like the most extreme version of the dopey enthusiastic protagonist trope. He is terrible at almost everything but he just. LOVES POKEMON. SO MUCH. And also he's full of pride at every single thing he does and it's just sweet to have a character who believes in his pets and his friends and himself, and that's all you need to be a pretty great sort of person.

★ Everybody runs Quick Attack on their Pokemon. EVERY TRAINER. EVERY POKEMON.

★ WOW THERE IS SO MUCH CROSSDRESSING. Unremarkable crossdressing even, in that it happens with such regularity that most of the time, no one acknowledges it as out of the ordinary. And there's equal parts girls-dressing-as-guys and guys-dressing-as-girls. How nice!

★ I am pretty sure Gary has a crush on Ash. He acts exactly like a ten year old with a crush. It is literally the only age-appropriate thing Gary does, I mean, a corvette? A cheerleading squad composed of much older women?? WORLD CLASS POKEMON RESEARCHER??? HOW ARE YOU THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE CHARACTER IN A UNIVERSE WHERE GIANT MONSTERS LIVE IN TINY BALLS AND CHILDREN WANDER AROUND FORESTS UNATTENDED FOR MONTHS?

I've always shipped Gary/Ash because it was really so balant how big of a crush Gary has on Ash. xD Derpy Ash never even realizes it.

I've been watching the Indigo League episodes with a friend who only started playing Pokemon recently, and has never seen the anime, and all of her observations have basically blown my mind, because they're like this:

"Wait, these kids just wander around eating wild fruit?"

"So adults just hang out with these ten year olds and it's fine, nobody minds...wow, the Pokemon world is so positive. Pedophiles just don't exist."

Omg, yes, you're friend is 100% correct! xD The Pokemon world is pretty peaceful, all things considered.

But you know what? Despite playing the games for years and seeing parts of the anime, I've never really considered pedobears roaming about in Pokemon until the past year - not seriously anyway. ^^; I've always approached the series fairly innocently, which is probably why I never got into fanfic for the fandom now that I think about it.

Although, I will admit that I've always thought Giovanni was a serious creep of the perv-on-Pokemon variety. xD idek

LMFAO that screenshot is from literally the only episode I've watched (because it had Bang in it). I too only watched that episode because I wanted to see wtf was up with a gifset of Bang talking to some really badly drawn little kids. I skipped to the part where Bang showed up and only barely made it through the rest of the episode. My favorite thing was when they kept having Bang talk to Jin from his own front porch just so they didn't have to animate two people.

I keep scrolling up to that screenshot and looking at Jin's face and laughing like an idiot.

The poor animation continually blows my mind and I've only watched 3 episodes. Even the 'good' sections are pretty bad. There's a Noel/Tsubaki fight at one point that is almost impressive in its ability to move two characters across the screen using like...3 frames of animation.
