HELLO EVERYONE. I'm
terabient and I haven't posted on DW since, uh, let me check...
...since July of 2013! OH DEAR. Well, uh, here is a run down of possibly noteworthy things that have happened, should anyone still be around to read it.
In Real Life: I have a job! Aside from a rather awful first week, it's been going nicely so far--although I'm in a perpetual state of anxiety due to overthinking every single thing I do. To be fair, that pretty much happens to me all day every day, no matter what I'm doing, and at least in this particular job I'm constantly being reassured by clients, supervisors and coworkers that I'm doing an A-OK job, so everything is going as well as it possibly could. Hooray!
In video gaming: Most of my gaming life post July was taken up by Borderlands 2 DLC and it's ever-expanding endgame. Also I made the sort-of-a-mistake decision to participate in the official BL2 forums--from experience, whenever I join a video game forum, I spend the next few months in a state of terrifying obsession (even for myself!), engaging in stupid internet fights that ultimately boil down to 'do u even play dis game nub, cos i'm an expert.' Then I realize that this state of existence is no way to live and drop both the forum and game cold turkey for another few months. Or a few years. Anyway, the point is, Borderlands 2 consensually destroyed my life for awhile, but I kicked it to the curb around December. I am probably going to go back to it when I feel like shooting stuff up in the first-person perspective again, but it may take awhile to feel that need again.
The reason I stopped playing BL2 was mostly because I got sucked into Terraria and, a little later, Pokemon Y. I skipped Pokemon BW and BW2 entirely, so everything feels even more new! I picked the little frog for my starter pokemon and it turned into a frog ninja, which is hilarious and awesome. I...uh...don't know what else to say about it yet. Well, I guess if you've got X/Y, you can add me and we can do...whatever it is Nintendo will allow over the interwebs. Trading and battling, I guess? And maybe give away whatever those O-Powers are. See, the only trading/battling I've ever done in Pokemon is of the system link variety with my brother, because we've always been Pokedorks. I haven't tried things like the Global Trade Station or even using my 3DS friends list. x_x
In anime/manga: The only thing new I watched in 2013 was Psycho-Pass. It was pretty good and I'm interested in seeing where the second season will go. That's...that's about all I can say. I'm really bad about anime watching nowadays :c And even worse about discussing it, apparently.
In television/movies: My sister has turned me into a Sleepy Hollow fan! It is basically National Treasure but with better acting and less screaming, which makes it sound not very good but somehow, it works??? No really I feel sort of embarrassed for liking a show that spends most of its time making its protagonists spout absurd exposition, but hey, here I am, DVRing the entire first season. Thor 2 was enjoyable and most of what disappointed me was frankly my fault for having rather silly expectations, in retrospect. (Look, I was hoping the Dark Elves and Kurse in particular would be more than just bad dudes tearing up shit, but they weren't. OH WELL) PACIFIC RIM WAS THE BEST MOVIE EVER FOR REALS. Frozen was cute.
I think I was going to write a lot more, but my brain is just like, NO MORE THINKING FOR TONIGHT. But I'll probably be back in a few days to bombard Dreamwidth with more Pokemon thoughts, at least. EXCITING STUFF, I know!

Date: 2014-01-26 04:19 am (UTC)From:I really need to catch up on what's been released. There were a bunch of things I was planning to watch and just never got around to in 2013! I'd like to see at least one 2013 show before I go to Anime Boston this year.
I think just about any modern FPS is really hard to pick up. Even the 'simple' ones are quite dense and tend to assume a player has at least a passing familiarity with FPS conventions which is...not good if you're just starting out. :c

Date: 2014-01-26 04:24 am (UTC)From:Sleepy Hollow does have fun characters and the interactions between them are just so good. I'll put up with all the ridiculous exposition in the world just to watch the two leads banter for a minute or two. The supporting characters are also quite strong considering how little time they tend to get.
