for a few hours today, i thought i was going to miss today's post because of my ~COMCASTIC~ connection, but luckily everything was (apparently) fixed fifteen minutes ago. score? it's good it's working again, but it's still comcast. :c

i feel like talking about muziks today, so let's dust off ye olde 30 day meme that, true to my word, i did not do in 30 days. to be honest i stopped mostly because of the "Pick a song that describes you" day. i hate those kind of questions because it is pretty much impossible to pick something that doesn't make you sound like a huge fucking hipster douchebag. even if you picked something totally innocuous like Bananaphone, you still picked a tired old meme song - only the biggest of douchebags do something like that. THERE IS NO WINNING.

but today i have tried.

i picked this song because i am 4'11" and also because if i could be any person in the world, i would pick Esperanza Spalding, because it would be pretty neat to have pure undiluted perfection springing out from my mouth and hands like she does.

day 16: a song that you used to love but now hate: That's the Way Love Goes, Janet Jackson

the best birthday present i ever got was a Sony-made boombox. my parents gave me three CDs for it: Michael Jackson's Thriller, Janet Jackson's janet. and some awful Christian folk singer CD that i tried vainly to sneak into the trash can at every available opportunity. (it has managed to survive intact to the present day, i suppose through the power of God or something) I, like most of the world at the time, loved both Jacksons and played their CDs for hours. HOURS. i'd put my favorite song on repeat and blast it until my parents begged for some respite, and then i'd just turn it down so i could listen happily in my room.

Anyway, i did the repeat thing with That's the Way Love Goes, my favorite of favorite songs at the time, while doing some homework that was incredibly boring. i ended up falling asleep with the boombox still on, stuck on repeat. when i woke up, it was still playing. That's the Way Love Goes had been drilled impossibly deep into my brain matter, and became a torturous earworm that took over a week to get rid of.

Just hearing a few notes of the song now makes me a little ill - which is too bad, because it's a popular song and objectively pretty good for R & B.

i suppose i'll do this whenever the mood to blather on about music hits me.
