Yeah, this year's E3 is kind of...muted? Even the 'big' announcements (Wii U, PS Vita) weren't that much to get excited about, and for the most part, it sounds like the most interesting games are coming out at the very end of the year or in 2012.
And WOW but is MS pushing the Kinect HARD. Joystiq showed pictures of the MS E3 booth and it is just stuffed with Kinects. Also, aside from Dance Central, apparently the most thrilling use of it is opening sliding doors and voice recognition. Wow, I am just blown away by what technology can do these days. :|
As for controller-guns...I have a Wii and I use it almost exclusively for rail-shooters like House of the Dead - I find using the controller like a gun a blast. XD I even have one of those special 'Perfect Shot' type holders for the Wiimote to make it more gun-like. XD I'm not sure I'd like that set-up for a genuine 1st/3rd person shooter, though - I actually had a tough time with Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. :c
I don't have a PS3 so I haven't been watching their stuff that closely, but I did see some Ruin and it looks really cool. :o
