I know. One of the more, ah, interesting effects of having hyperlexia is difficulty in sentence composition - whenever I'm writing formally, I NEED to have a copy of Elements of Style nearby because I can never remember standard grammar rules properly. The self-written fic guides just cherry-pick the most common or blatant mistakes, and rarely have sections that talk about the more basic but far more useful grammar rules.
That the guides are very heavy on the "Don't do this!" front bothers me a lot. Creative writing is one of those things where you NEED to make lots of public, embarrassing mistakes to get better, so being hypercritical and targeting new writers for a list of NEVER DO THESE THINGS strikes me as unhelpful and a bit mean-spirited.
